Uranus Leaving One Shadow Zone at 2 Gemini Heading to 6 Gemini

Uranus has been at 2 Gemini the last half of May, which was the forward boundary of its shadow zone created in September 2025 when it went retrograde on that degree. It is also the beginning of its next shadow zone, because it will go stationary direct at 2 Gemini in February. So we are on the threshold of Uranus leaving the old shadow zone between 28 Taurus and 2 Gemini, and moving into its next shadow zone between 2 and 6 Gemini. What does this mean?

First, for those who don’t know the term, a planet’s “Shadow Zone” is the span of degrees between the point it goes stationary retrograde back to where it goes stationary direct. When a planet which was retrograde goes direct, it moves across the same span of degrees it did when retrograde, and then a third time when direct again. That is the Shadow Zone.

We get a forward look; then we get a different view of the same span but from a different perspective. Then we get a third view when we again resume forward motion relative to that planet in that house.

Uranus went SRX at 2 Gemini in early September 2025, and retrograded back to 28 Taurus, where it went direct on February 3 of this year. Since then it’s been in forward motion and is now moving through the boundary of its previous shadow zone at 2 Gemini. This degree will be highly activated this year, as it’s where Mercury and the Sun both conjuncted Uranus in the past 2 weeks.

It will continue to advance until it finally goes retrograde at 6 Gemini this September. Then it will retrograde back to 2 Gemini, where it will go stationary direct in February 2027. It will stay in its 2-6 Gemini shadow zone through May 2027, when it leaves this zone and enters its next shadow zone.

Some astrologers believe this sort of “tag team” shadow zone renders the concept of shadow zones immaterial because of the overlap in the zones of the three outer invisible spiritual planets. I believe that’s erroneous, because those overlapping direct and retrograde degree spans are “zones of examination” via the transpersonal planet involved. They give us multiple looks back at certain spans of experience.

Elements of our spiritual life are entangled with every other area of our life. Everyone has overlapping zones where we’re reviewing our spiritual experience (whether we know it or not). By these lessons of these focused areas, we can see how our spiritual understanding is expanding, dissolving, or transforming.

Uranus began our focus on the themes of 28 Taurus beginning in September 2024, and began our focus on 2 Gemini beginning September 2025. We’ve now gotten multiple looks at what Uranus has awakened in the last 3 degrees of Taurus and the first 2 degrees of Gemini through direct discovery and retrograde reflection and review.

The current and future shadow zone between 2 and 6 Gemini will also get several passes between now and May 2027. So Uranus awakens a several degree span for a couple of years before moving on to the next span, with a few overlapping points which become hot spots for future transits to release.

Uranus works with Saturn, our “Spiritual Master and Spiritual Friend” to teach us the virtues of Self-mastery to bring forth our individuality and fulfill our spiritual purpose. Whereas we experience liberation from prior patterns through Uranus, our Saturn allows us to craft the vehicle through which we will ground that purpose.

These two together work to help us through the tests of “continual rebirth” which is the destiny of all Soul/Spirits on Earth. What Uranus awakens, Saturn binds, until we unbind from that awakened form and embrace a new awakened form, which again binds us for exactly as long as we need to find spiritual understanding.

We had many years of awakened Taurus energies which were structured by Saturn in the harvest signs of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Now we’re in an entire different era, when awakened Aries energies will be structured by Saturn in the personal signs of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer.

Now that Uranus is about to enter 3 Gemini, we are moving into unknown zones of individuation humanity hasn’t experienced since between June 1942 and June 1943. So we’re in the Uranus return for that era of widespread and varied discoveries in technology. We’ll continue to be in this “era of discovery” through May 2033, when Uranus enters Cancer.

However, just before that, we’ll finish one important cycle and begin another. When Saturn conjuncts Uranus at 29 Gemini in June 2032, it ends the last Saturn/Uranus long wave cycle begun in 1988 with their conjunctions at 30, 29, and 28 Sagittarius. So we’ve all been in a 38 year era of late Sagittarius lessons in our lives, and in 6 years we’ll begin a new 47 year era which will last through their next conjunction at 30, 29, and 28 Capricorn in 2079.

Into the Future

As Uranus moves through its next “shadow zone” between 2 and 6 Gemini, its SRX degree in early September, it will awaken many things which are potential larger adventures, truths and opportunities set into motion when Jupiter transited this zone in June 2024. These and more will activate in late June and early July when Mars moves through this degree span and activates all of Jupiter’s and Uranus’ stationary points and conjunctions. Then Mars conjuncts Uranus at 4 Gemini in early July, setting a two year span into play around themes of self-renewal, encouragement, and rewarding relationships.

During the time Uranus is direct between now and early September, it has only the conjunction by Mars. As noted, we’ve already had Mercury and the Sun conjunct Uranus at 2 Gemini, we’ve begun a year of Santa Claus coming to town!

So enjoy the new territory Uranus is leading us into! It is now awakening our ability to use the rejuvenation and life renewals we’ve been experiencing since September 2024 to push our explorations into the unknown zones of 3 through 6 Gemini. In this span we’ll see possible ways to structure our awakening which bring us connection with others, new ideas to revolutionize our lives, and a search for knowledge which can bring us forms of wealth and power.

Allow yourself to feel how your “mature experience” now enables you to “admire your wisdom” and find regeneration and renewal wherever you have late Taurus while embracing the adventure of awakening to new ideas and new ways of communicating. We now enter “unknown zones of higher awakening,” so enjoy the new discoveries on the way between now and February.
